Which tour should I choose?
Short on time? The Morning Volcano Hike takes 3 hours. For the rainforest canopy, choose Mistico Hanging Bridges. For a full day, Río Celeste and Tenorio Volcano National Park takes 8 hours with lunch.
How long do the tours last?
From 1.5 hours (zipline) to 8 hours (Río Celeste). The volcano hikes take 3 to 6 hours and Mistico Hanging Bridges takes 6 hours.
What is the minimum age?
Age 4 for the volcano hikes and the zipline. Children under 5 don't pay.
Is transport included?
Yes. Round-trip transport from downtown La Fortuna and nearby areas is included. Hotels outside the free pickup area may pay an extra fee.
What should I bring?
Closed-toe hiking shoes, long pants, a rain jacket, a change of clothes, a water bottle, sunscreen and biodegradable repellent. Add a swimsuit and a towel for tours with a hot river.
What if it rains?
Bring a rain jacket: rain is part of the rainforest. If a tour is cancelled for weather or safety, we reschedule it when possible or refund it.

Short on time? The Zipline Tour, Sloth Watching and the Coffee, Chocolate and Sugar Cane Tour take about 1.5 hours. For Arenal Volcano, choose the 3‑hour morning hike, the 4‑hour afternoon hike, or a 6‑hour day with lunch and a hot river.
Mistico Hanging Bridges takes 6 hours and Río Celeste is a full 8‑hour day trip. After dark, the Arenal Night Hike starts at 6:00 p.m. Most tours welcome children from age 1; the volcano hikes and the zipline start at age 4.

Our local tour guides in La Fortuna share their passion for the rainforest and Arenal Volcano through authentic, safe and responsible tours.

La Fortuna is a town in San Carlos, Costa Rica, at the foot of Arenal Volcano and about three hours by road from San José. It is the base for hiking the volcano, crossing hanging bridges in the rainforest, soaking in hot rivers and taking a day trip to Río Celeste.

You can cancel up to 24 hours before the tour for a 100% refund. With less than 24 hours' notice, or if you do not show up, the full price is charged. Date changes made at least 24 hours ahead have no fee, subject to availability.
If we cancel a tour for weather or safety, you choose between rescheduling and a 100% refund.
Tours depart from Sloth Watching Trail in La Fortuna. Round-trip transport from downtown La Fortuna and nearby areas is included.
If your hotel is outside the free pickup area, an extra fee may apply. Please be ready 15 minutes before departure.
Tours are shared, with up to 15 people per guide. Group rates are available on request.
The volcano hikes, Mistico Hanging Bridges and Río Celeste are moderate walks on forest trails.
They are not recommended for people with heart or physical conditions or for older adults.
The Afternoon Volcano Hike and the Volcano Hike + Lunch and Hot River both end at El Choyín hot river. Bring a swimsuit and a towel.

Sandals, flip-flops and open-toed shoes, drones, alcohol and drugs, littering and feeding the animals.
Sightings are not guaranteed, but they are very likely. Guides carry a spotting scope to help you find animals in the forest.
