You will start this tour with an early pick up to take you to Los Chiles, very close to the Nicaraguan border.
As you arrive at the pier, your tour guide will indicate which is your boat and start the real trip.
Depending on the time of the year and the weather the tour may go up or down the river looking for the different animals on the surrounding trees and sandy beaches.
You can always find in the area significant populations of resident and migratory birds, two and three-toed sloths plus groups of howler and capuchin monkeys.
Also reptiles like green iguanas, basilisks, turtles, crocodiles and caymans.
The Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge is a Ramsar site, endangered as it may be by the surrounding massive plantations, it is a haven for the wildlife and as you glide down on your boat the sightings area as abundant as they can be close.
Regarding aquatic birds, you can easily see Olivaceous Cormorants, Anhingas (Also known as Snakebirds), also Little and Big Blue Herons, Great White Egrets.
And, Cattle and Snowy Egrets, different species of kingfishers, storks and the rare and magnificent Jabiru (The largest bird of Central America).
